ECO KITCHEN COMPANY’S GRAND DESIGNS ACCESS NEW MARKETS WITHOUT COSTING THE EARTH

West Midlands eco kitchen company Chamois1 is going from strength to strength – accessing new markets, opening a new demonstration facility and appearing at Grand Designs Live this month - thanks to its innovative products and business ethos. The Wolverhampton-based business has operated ecologically2 throughout its 28 year history but some ingenious product innovations and an endorsement from One Planet Products3 has recently enabled it to capture the hearts and minds of customers with a physical impairment as well ever more environmentally conscious consumers. Chamois Managing Director Andy Jones-Dutt explains: “With an ageing population and the desire of most people to live full and independent lives in their own homes, we identified the need for a user-friendly kitchen solution for the less able-bodied and set about creating a product range that would meet their needs. “We have introduced a significant number of product innovations over the years but our new Elan range can incorporate all of the aids and adaptations that are available in one platform. The result is a suite of stylish alternative kitchen options4 which can make a real difference to a person’s quality of life and their ability to live independently.” Chamois was recently listed by One Planet Products - a global initiative developed by BioRegional and the World Wildlife Fund - and original thinking with an ecological edge continues to attract customers including private developers and housing associations. This range expansion builds on the Chamois’ successful participation in Channel 4 programme ‘The House That Kevin Built’ last year - which provided a highly appropriate platform for showcasing the company’s stylish products and strong eco-credentials whilst connecting it with a wider audience. Participating in ‘The House That Kevin Built’ led to a special invitation from the organisers of Grand Design’s Live (9-11 October at NEC, Birmingham) to exhibit as part of an innovative ‘Demonstration Dwelling’ and this, coupled with the launch of its new demonstration facility5 in Wolverhampton, means that Chamois Eco-Kitchens is set to capitalise on new markets without forgetting its green roots. Chamois is one of more than 2500 businesses operating within the West Midlands Interiors & Lifestyle Cluster5, which employs 37,000 people, and ably demonstrates the region’s capacity to produce innovative, desirable products for discerning customers.
